Chef Martin Laprise
Chef Martin has experience in culinary art and pastry art - a career that spans over 25 years working in Quebec, Alberta, British Columbia and the Caribbean.
Over the years, Martin has worked in restaurants, cafeterias, banquet halls, movie catering, pastry shops, cruise ships and AAA 4 diamond fine dining rooms. He has cooked Greek food, Italian, Canadian, American, French, Asian and more, all this during breakfast, lunch and dinner.
At the age of 8, his daughter knew already how long it took to cook a chicken, the temperature of the oven and what she should do if the chicken was not done yet. Martin is very proud of the fact that he is giving his child the skills and confidence to cook anything and everything at an early age. Martin says, When she moves out of the house some day and invites me over to her house for dinner, I wont be eating macaroni and cheese, and if I do, it will be made from scratch with fresh ingredients and it will taste great!

Martin has reached the point in his career where he wants to spread his skills around to everyone willing to listen. Having spent 5 years in pastry shops he has developed a big interest for the sweet side of the business. As a Sous-Chef at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel he was able to really make his mark on the famous Sunday Brunch, preparing items like Grilled Maple Beef Flank, Grainy Mustard Cedar Plank Salmon, Vegetarian Garbanzo Bean Stew, Sambuca Roasted Garlic Baked Brie en Croute and Flambé Strawberries. With his team he served 500 guests from all over the world every Sunday.
During his career, Martin has cooked for many high profile people from all over the world including; Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Robert Kennedy, Natasha Enstrige, Gary Sinise, Don Cheadle, Tony Danza, Connie Nielsen, Canada's Adrianne Clarkson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dan Akroyd, Woody Harrelson, Brian De Palma, Lance Henriksen, Terry O'Quinn, Treat Williams, Jerry O'Connell, Famke Janssen, Richard Dean Anderson, Howie Mandel, Michael Ironside, Linda Evans and a few more! "Over the years, I have found that famous or not, people like to eat good food." says Martin.
Chef Martin is now bringing his talents to your kitchen, in French or in English or a mixture of both! His professional, positive, relaxed and fun way about teaching makes you want to challenge yourself to learn more and more every time.
I cant wait to meet amateur chefs in their own kitchen, and start showing them how to organize, cook and present amazing gourmet foods the quick and easy way, says Martin.

When Chef Martin is not at your house cooking, he speaks at culinary school to young cooks about the industry and how great this career can be. He can also often be found somewhere in the Okanagan forests mushroom picking. Chef Martin has been a Professional Certified Dog Trainer for 12 years, so on his time off, he spends time training Simon, his German Short Haired Pointer, to find mushrooms! You can always stop him and ask for dog advice and you will notice his second passion in life!
